Vanessa S. Vaughn is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Asfalis, an enterprise resilience boutique consulting firm. The business specializes in strategies that enhance security and awareness in crisis and emergency situations. Additionally, Vanessa is an instructor at Queens University in the McColl School of Business Executive Leadership Program teaching the Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII), Business Continuity Management certification course.
Prior to consulting and higher education, Vanessa worked for fortune 500 corporations and government agencies. Ms. Vaughn developed enterprise crisis management, business continuity, and training and exercise programs. Her expertise is in equipping executive leadership teams with an organized response to global risks to enhance profitability and maintain an organization's reputation. Vanessa has experience leading enterprise efforts for domestic and international businesses, impacting millions of customers, and reducing risks that affect $50B businesses.
Vanessa is a native of Virginia Beach, VA, grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management from Savannah State University. Ms. Vaughn has a Master's in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina, and has two industry certifications: Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) through DRII and ISO 22301 - Lead Implementer.
Vanessa has been honored as a recipient of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Chamber of Commerce's 30 Under 30 award. She serves on the Board of Directors for various non-profit organizations to include Friendship Toastmaster's, the Contingency Planning Association of the Carolinas, Pride Entrepreneurship Education Program and National Black Master's in Business Administration Association. Ms. Vaughn was recognized as a nominee for Mentor of the Year through Charlotte Mayor's Mentoring Alliance program, through her involvement with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte and the Leaders of Tomorrow.
